Glorious, heavenly harmony! Joyous rhythm! To my uninformed ear, I hear a hybrid of Brazilian rhythms with Western male vocal harmony as heard in the Sons of Pioneers and in Marty Robbins' Gunfighter Ballads albums (backed by the timeless harmonies of Tompall and the Glaser Brothers). This is especially the case in the first track. Of course, it's quite possible they never heard or cared for any of that music and that the lineage is entirely Brazilian, but I cannot say for certain as there is so little written about them!
Hailing from Brazil, Os Tincoãs were named after the beautiful Tincoã bird and have a lively sound to match. Though formed in the bossa nova era, the group's sound is more influenced by the Candomblé tradition of their native state of Bahia.
This buried treasure was discovered by my dear friend, Richard Whalley!
